Robert F. Pierce

U.S. Veteran

Robert F. Pierce age 74 of McComb died Sunday February 10, 2013 4:55 p.m. at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. He was born September 19, 1938 in Genoa, OH to Steven and Rosalind (Mehling) Pierce. He was married to Margarita Turner from 1957-1967 in Toledo. He then married Delores “Darlene” Wooley July 22, 1968 in Findlay, and she survives. Also surviving are from his first union; Robert Pierce Jr. of McClure, Jacqueline of West Virginia, Margie Weber of Napoleon, and Mike Pierce from Napoleon; and from his second union two sons Daniel Pierce of McComb, and Steven Pierce of McComb; and two step children Edward Welch of McComb, and Tamara Ellen Westfall of Troy, OH. There are 14 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Mr. Pierce is also survived by brothers William (Jane) Pierce of Maumee, and James Pierce of Florida.

Mr. Pierce attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Maumee. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served from 1955-1959. He was a retired electrician from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company in Findlay where he retired in 2003 after 38 years of service. Mr. Pierce was a Life Member of the McComb VFW Post. He was the Post Commander from 1997-1998. He also served as Canteen Manager for 7 years. Mr. Pierce was a member of the McComb American Legion Post; AMVETS Post in Findlay; and was a Life Member of the Findlay DAV. He was also a social member of the North Baltimore Eagles Lodge.

Visitation will be on Thursday February 14, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the HARTLEY FUNERAL HOME in McComb with the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. The Hancock County Veteran’s Memorial Squad will be providing Military Rites at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The HARTLEY FUNERAL HOME in McComb has been entrusted to handle the services for Mr. Pierce and his family.
