U.S. Veteran

Marvin D. Glaser age 86 of McComb died Saturday January 14, 2012 at his residence. He was born April 4, 1925 to George M. and Rosamond (Bushong) Glaser. On February 17, 1952 he married Mary Louise Vogel and she survives. Also surviving are three children; a son Tom D. (Joyce) Glaser of McComb; and two daughters Jane (Dave) Benroth of McComb, Susan (Steven) Heyne of Michigan. There are six grandchildren; Micha, Coty, Ciera, Joshua, Zachary, and Adison; and there are three great grandchildren. Mr. Glaser is also survived by a brother Richard Glaser of McComb, and a sister Ruth Byal of Florida.

Mr. Glaser was a 1943 graduate of McComb High School. He was a WWII Navy Seabees Veteran having served from 1943-1945. Mr. Glaser started , owned , and operated the Vanlue Tile Works, The Upper Sandusky Tile Works, Glaser Farm Drainage in McComb, and retired from the Glaser Insurance Agency in McComb in the late 1980’s. He was a member of the McComb American Legion Post, and the McComb VFW Post. He was a former member of the McComb Rotary Club. Mr. Glaser was a 60 year member of the Shady Acres Golf Club in McComb. He was a current member of the BPOE Elks Lodge in Maumee, OH where he loved to dance.

Visitation will be on Saturday January 21, 2012 10a.m.-1 p.m. at the HARTLEY FUNERAL HOME in McComb. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Linda Zaye officiating. Inurnment will follow in McComb Union Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites performed by the Hancock County Veteran’s Memorial Squad.

Memorial contributions can be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice, Hancock County Humane Society, or charity of the donor’s choice.
